THORISAT
THORISAT (also referenced as TH-OriSat, short for Thailand Origami Satellite) is a small satellite platform concept focused on high power solar demonstrating origami-inspired deployable space structures.
- Origami Packaging Architecture: Employs multi-panel folding geometries (such as pinwheel, flasher, or Miura-ori crease patterns) to stow large surface-area arrays into a compact CubeSat or microsatellite volume for launch.
- Multidomain Application: Designed for operation in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) or Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) to support high-power solar arrays, deployable reflectarray antennas, or active phased-array transceivers.
Primary Engineering Objectives
- Deployment Dynamics & Latch Shock Mitigation: Evaluating the unfolding kinematic velocity, hinge torque-rotation curves, and latch-up momentum transfer to prevent angular momentum spikes from destabilizing the Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS).
- Kinematic Reliability: Ensuring multi-panel vertices unfold smoothly without mechanical jamming or geometric interference caused by panel thickness.
- Environmental Resilience: Testing structural material endurance against severe thermal cycling and thermospheric atomic oxygen exposure in low orbits.
